Matthew Raske
DVM, DACVS-SA, CCRP
Dr. Matthew Raske is a Board-Certified veterinary surgeon and the founding Medical Director of the Hospital for Veterinary Surgery (HVS), the first surgery-exclusive veterinary hospital in New York City. With deep experience at major specialty veterinary hospitals, Dr. Raske excels in soft tissue, orthopedic, and oncologic surgeries. His expertise lies in advanced orthopedic procedures, including total joint replacements, angular limb deformities, and minimally invasive surgery. As a veterinary surgeon and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP), Dr. Raske offers comprehensive non-surgical and surgical options to optimize long-term health and comfort. He obtained his DVM from Kansas State University, then completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery internship and surgical internship, and then a three-year residency in veterinary surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. He is also a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) through the University of Tennessee.
Andrew Kyles
BVMS, PhD, DACVS
Dr. Andrew Kyles, a Board-Certified veterinary surgeon, is excited to be part of our inaugural team at HVS. He obtained his BVMS from the University of Glasgow in 1988 and his Ph.D. from the University of Bristol in 1992. Following a three-year surgical residency at North Carolina State University, Dr. Kyles became a Board-Certified surgeon in 1997. With a notable background as a senior surgeon in New York City and Long Island, he specializes in soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Dr. Kyles has also held positions as a clinical instructor at the University of Georgia and a professor of small animal soft tissue surgery at the University of California, Davis. He is widely recognized for his research contributions published in peer-reviewed journals. Outside of work, Dr. Kyles enjoys spending time with his rescued pets, including Gwen, a Yorkshire Terrier, Maggie, a mixed breed, and Berry, his cat.
